Frequently Asked Questions
Dental Hygienists are primary health care providers whose skill and education focus on preventative treatment as well as education surrounding oral health care and health promotion. Dental Hygienists in Alberta must be in good standing with the College of Registered Dental Hygiene Association in order to obtain a licence and practice within the province.
YES! In 2006 the laws in Alberta changed to allow Registered Dental Hygienists to provide their services in settings other than a traditional dental office. They may choose to have a stand alone clinic or a mobile clinic or both. Regardless of setting, they must adhere to CRDHA practice standards, HPA, municipal business operating rules, Privacy Act, and OH&S standards for health care.
At Purely Hygiene we will provide friendly, knowledgeable preventative oral hygiene care in a relaxed, friendly no pressure approach environment. Although we stand behind our treatment plan assessment, you have the right to decline treatment without being made to feel guilty about your decisions. We strive to develop a health care provider/patient relationship but would also like to develop a professional friendship where you feel free to talk to us.
Frequency of oral health care maintenance is very patient specific. Each person's oral health is different, and treatment needs are individually designed to meet their goals and needs. This recommendation will be made after your initial assessment and treatment with us.
At Purely Hygiene our main focus is prevention. If upon examination it appears you require restorative work, we would be happy to refer you to a dentist of your choosing. If you are free from decay and need of restorative intervention, you do not need to book in with a Dentist. We are happy to forward all pertinent information to the referring dentist if needed.
Alberta Blue Cross, Manulife and Sunlife are just a few of the insurance companies we work with. We would be happy to contact your dental insurance provider to determine coverage, but due to privacy act many companies will not release this information to us. You may want to contact your insurance company or have us submit preauthorization. As of May 2021, both Manulife and Sunlife are accessible for direct online billing.
As our treatments are specifically designed for each individual, costs will vary. We have set our fee guides with your insurance company's fee guide in mind. However, not all insurance companies' fee guides are similar, and each plan allows for different coverage maximums. We strongly recommend you know your individual plan.
You can call our office at (780) 515-9878, stop in at #2, 5132 50 Street, or use our online booking feature on our home page. You can also message us on our Facebook page privately. If it's your first visit, please mention this when speaking to our receptionist.
