Frequently Asked Questions
Ceramic crowns are highly resilient and low risk of breaking or chipping under normal circumstances. They are designed to withstand the regular biting and chewing forces encountered daily. However, extreme forces, such as biting down on hard objects like ice, pens, or fingernails, can potentially cause damage to ceramic crowns.
Signs of periodontitis include: gums that are swollen or bulging, unusual reddishness in the gums, tenderness, traces of bleeding while brushing or flossing, bad breath, formation of pus between gums and teeth, loose teeth, missing one or multiple teeth, pain while chewing, a wide gap in between two adjacent teeth, and receding gums.
The most prevalent cause of periodontitis is plaque, a sticky covering comprised largely of bacteria. If plaque is left untreated, it can lead to periodontitis. Plaque can harden into tartar under the gumline if it is not removed. Tartar is harder to get rid of and contains microorganisms. Plaque causes gingivitis, the mildest type of gum disease.
Maintain a good oral hygiene routine – brushing your teeth for two minutes at least twice a day and flossing at least once. Visit a dentist once in a while – cleanings should be done every six to twelve months by your dentist or dental hygienist.
Wisdom teeth may not come in normally because they are so far back in the mouth. They could get lodged in your jawbone or gums, causing discomfort and pain. If your wisdom teeth come in at a wrong angle, they may press against your other teeth. If your jaw doesn’t have enough room for an extra set of molars, or if your toothbrush or dental floss may not reach your wisdom teeth, resulting in dental cavities.
You need to meet with the oral surgeon to discuss the surgery. Discuss any health issues, inquire about any concerns, choose the type of anesthesia, and make arrangements to take time from work or school for your procedure, and then recover at home.
The extraction of wisdom teeth should take no longer than 45 minutes. You’ll be given one of the following types of anesthetics: local or general. Your dentist may have to cut your gums or bone to remove the teeth. If this is the case, the wounds will be stitched together to speed up the healing process.
Cosmetic dentistry helps to improve your self-esteem and confidence. Cosmetic dental treatments such as veneers or bonding can fix chipped or cracked teeth that may be causing discomfort while eating or speaking. Many people who suffer from misaligned teeth experience difficulty when it comes to cleaning their teeth properly leading to an increased risk of cavities and gum disease. Cosmetic orthodontic treatments like Invisalign aligners can straighten crooked teeth making brushing and flossing simpler. Having a bright white smile has been shown to make individuals appear younger than they actually are.
Types of cosmetic dentistry include: teeth whitening, dental veneers, Invisalign, dental implants, and composite bonding.
Consider the location, experience of the dentist, availability of full-service, payment and insurance options, the facility, and the highest quality equipment.
